Utah Runner Girls 5K

At some point I am going to take a non goofy race picture (this is not it)
This was super fun.
Truth be told I don't LOVE running. In my book it's a necessary evil to balance out my carb cravings.
I do LOVE to race not because I am fast (I am NOT) but because I love to do these crazy things with people I love or for causes I support.
This is my BFF Andrea.  We've been friends since the 8th grade (I think that's like 22 years? ago)  I was new to the Jr. High and she called me up and said let's be friends. and
  Wa-la
Andrea is a mother of three.  Her oldest is severely Autistic. Andrea is an amazing mom, she is fighter and she doesn't give up.  Someday I hope she writes her story because it is truly inspiring. I know some days she feels like she is barely surviving but in the big picture....like I said AMAZING.
A little over a year ago we hit a tough spot.  Maintaining friendship while you are trying to keep your head above water with families, disabilities, work, callings, finances etc.  Is not an easy task.  Miscommunication and unmet expectations on both sides led to a cliff.  It was either fall and let a life long friendship go, or build a bridge.  We both chose to build the bridge (Thus she is running this race with me and she HATES to run!)
I learned two valuable lessons, 1. We as women need friends, which takes effort and time, with busy families that time isn't going to drop out of the sky, you have to make it. 2. In friendship (or really any relationship)  you have to be clear about what you want, need and expect.  Thinking that someone else is going to read your mind or do things the way you would do them is simply unfair and will only lead to hurt feelings.
So grateful.
Thanks And for a fun run!

Riding shotgun

I finally have a child old enough to ride in the front seat with me.  This is how the conversation went
Master: I call shot -gun
Princess: What does that mean
Master: In the old days the guy next to the driver would carry a shotgun to ward off the bandits
Princess: I don't get it
Master: ugg
Princess: MOM  will I get it when I'm older?
