Monday Monday and not on my game...

The day started with the night...meaning a night of NO sleep. Bubba was up at least 4 times and was not easy to put back to sleep the 3rd and 4th time. Long story short I didn't make it to the gym and slept in...bad news for a Monday morning. Sport came and crawled in bed about 6am. Sport, due to his lack of a large colon is usually super poopy and stinky by morning. Because I was too tired to get out of bed and change him, I plugged my nose and let him snuggle until it was time to get up. (seriously could have used some nose plugs). I got the boys off to school and snagged what I thought I needed to do Sport's presentation with his reg ed class. In a rush I slapped on some lipstick with one hand rinsed out the tub of Sports left-over poops with the other.
At school I unloaded Bubba and realized it was really cold. Somehow I had loaded him into the car and didn't bring a blanket. Luckily I did have a sweatshirt stashed back there from last Saturday. Note, keep extra baby blanket in car. Inside, the teacher asked if I remember to send Sports velcro hand splints..hmm NOPE. Presentation went fine but not great.
Princess and I ran to Costco to do a return. (That is, after I was half-way down the street and remembered to go back to my house and grab the return). While inside Costco it started to rain, and of-course I didn't have an umbrella with me. I did have a decent afternoon of getting some work done while Princess played with her sticker book.
After school Master left for Soccer and I took Sport to Karate, I was late to drop off and late to pick up. I do this every week, you would think I would know by now how much time it takes to load a 4yr old, a baby, and drive to Karate...guess not.
I decided last minute to take the kids to Masters soccer game in Far West. I dashed back home and grabbed a few things, thinking I was prepared..NOPE. I drove through McDonalds only to have Princess melt down that the girl toy is actually a boy doll. (Come-on McDonalds what are you thinking?) I told Princess she couldn't throw a fit or freak out. And in a very quiet voice I heard her say, "I am going to, I am going to freak out if it's a boy doll". ugg!! I didn't stop the car and parent, I kept driving because we were late for the game. We get to the game with a screaming baby because he is hungry. It's windy and cold. Princess had left her jacket at the house after the previous errands. Princess put on Sport's too big sweatshirt. Sport put on Indy's jacket over the top of his Karate digs which kinda made him look like a jedi master. (It was kindy funny) The kids spotted a park and all I heard for the next 5 minutes was the whining and begging to play at the park. The soccer field was around the back-side of the building. I kept trying to explain that we could play after. NOPE not good enough for Sport, he sat right down and refused to move. I've got a crying baby strapped to me, (that I'm trying to protect from the wind because he is only half dressed)..(remember the dash to get to karate - I had his pants with me they just weren't on him yet) and I've got a diaper bag with a bottle for the hungry baby, and three camp chairs all in my arms. This very odd but nice Grandma walks by and asks if she can help Sport because clearly I'm not handling the situation. I finally threaten Sport to get him moving and we make it over to the game. We sit down and Princess tells me she's got to go potty. There are NO potties in sight! I told her to hold it. I finished feeding the baby and realized his diaper was at capacity. Princess was doing a serious potty dance, and Sport was moaning for no reason (which makes me crazy) and Indy was down coaching Master in the goalie box. I walked down the field and handed Indy the baby, who was wet through the blanket. I was gradually aware as I passed every parent on the side lines, my garment top had come untucked and was flapping in the wind. OH-well. I marched Princess off to find a tree....only to discover being the super prepared mom I am, I had no wipes in my diaper bag. Within a few minutes the game ends. Happy day!. Remember how I fed the kids on the way to the soccer game, they were claiming they are starving! REally?? Sport refused to do up his seatbelt and Princess spilled the remainder of her fries. (of course we are in the new car). Completely done with the day we head home. I've got laundry all over the place, back-packs and their contents strewn across the floor, and dirty diapers sitting on the stairs to go outside. I left it all right where it was and went to take a hot bath. I put fresh sheets on my bed. I didn't even care that I had a king fitted and a queen top sheet, they smelled like downy and that smells heavenly. And that was my Monday. Maybe tomorrow I'll be on my game.

Mormon Mom in a Minivan

I had several titles in mind for this post:
Much a do about nothing,
Good-by to a dear friend
Adventures in used car Hell,
The time has come the time is Now...
A little history: Right before Sport was born two of our friends and neighbors bought new Honda Odyssey Mini-vans. I swore I would NEVER be the mormon mom in the mini-van, but then I ran errands with Sue in her van with ALL of the children... I was SOLD! We started looking and discovered mini-vans are NOT cheap. We looked at new and used and every brand under the sun. We pondered and prayed and then I saw an add in a magazine for the new Toyota Sienna. I turned to Indy and said, "THAT is the Ultimate mom car" I have never "ordered" a car. I promised him I would drive it forever and we ordered the van. I claim I don't get attached to "things"but for the last 7 years I have loved that van. I think it has like 11 cup holders. Which means when you do drive through at Wendy's you have room for all the drinks and the frosties! A few years ago we packed our family of 5 plus 2 babysitters, 2 strollers and everyones crap for a week in Mexico, in that van. THAT is a COOL car! To be able to click your keyless remote three times and have both side doors and the rear hatch open is HEAVEN with small children. During the 121,000 miles we have not had a single rattle or repair. Baby # 4 is a game changer when it comes to vehicles. Whenever we are towing anything or making a trip to BL with lots of STUFF we have to take Indy's truck. The truck will seat 6 but that means having Master sit in the front with us and Master is a BIG kid! Not to mention he likes to play with every dial and nob in front of him. Time for a new vehicle. Before I could even list it on KSL, Jessica called and said if I was ever selling the van she wanted it. Voila meet Frank, Jess and Gavin new owners of the van For some time now we have been searching Auto-trader and KSL for a Yukon XL or a Suburban 2500. Pickings were slim but we felt confident we would be able to find something. After 2 days in Used CAR HELL, of which I will spare you the details, we ended up looking at new stuff. Then after another 5 days in decision HELL we have finally made a decision. I don't have a picture yet but I'll give you a big fat hint: I txt my friend and asked her, "If I'm no longer a mormon mom in a mini-van what am I?" Her response was "a busty babe in a burb....duh!" I'm going to have to work on that profile....pictures of the latest addition to our family coming soon.

Back to School

Back to school goodie bags from Nana,
Where she found those perfect stickers I have no idea

Posted by Picasa I love Back to School. I thought I would be one of those moms that cry. NOPE. I remember on Master's first day of pre-school feeling giddy with excitement. I liked school. I hope my kids like it. I get excited for them to learn new things. I hope that excitement is contagious. I also love the schedule. Breakfast together, family prayer, scriptures etc.... I do better during the school year.

and off they go...

Master riding his bike and Indy trailing just in case
Torture = Pre-School doesn't start for two more weeks

Sport wanted to make sure I got a picture of his back-pack. He actually got two this year the other one is a UTES back-pack and he loves them both and had the hardest time deciding which one to take the first day.

lazy days of summer

2 months old

Posted by PicasaI love this little monkey...I can't believe he is 2 months already. The first two pics are on his changing table which for some reason is where we get lots of smiles and cooing. As Indy says" it's like he's a real person now." He is a snuggle snuggle snuggle baby. He loves to grab my shirt or in typical boy fashion loves to stick his little fist on my chest. He had the back half of the chapel laughing today because he let out the biggest burp right in the middle of passing the sacrament. Obviously we need to work on manners but all in good time.

Dad's helper

Fast Forward 7 years and here is Master again helping his Dad
He is wearing the same tool belt it just no longer goes around him twice.

Don't leave home without it...

This post is dedicated to my mom...Seee I wrote it down...

Dinner tonight consisted of the drive-thru at McDonalds. The line of cars was not moving very fast and Princess Pie was getting very impatient. I said,
"You need to have patience"
"I can't mom"
"Why not?"
"Because I left them at home"

Sports favorite word of ALL time is NO!!!!!
But today he added a new one to the list and it's FINE! He says it and then laughs.

Indy and Master decided to head to the cabin to re-build our front porch. Indy asked Master if he really wanted to stay up there all week and Master said,
"I can't leave an old man up here alone to do heavy work"

Write it down

Forever my mother has told me to write down the funny things my kids say and do. The everyday things that I think I'll remember. I wish I had followed that advice much earlier. Everyone says, "They grow up so fast" and it's true it's just hard to realize that when the days seem so long and you are sooooo tired. Sport has been sick off and on for about 3 weeks. It's an off and on fever, stomach cramping, loss of appetite, loss of energy, and they he recovers and seems fine. Last night after a fever of 104.8 we headed to the pediatrician's office this morning. He specifically met us there early because his day was already packed. (love him) Indy and I have to do this together because it takes two of us to hold Sport down. (hate that) After the KUB, chest film and blood draw; we're leaving the office and Sport turns to the doctor and says,
"Peace out Sucker" and gives his little chuckle. Even sick that kid cracks me up.

Camping for the Spudman

Posted by Picasa

City of Rocks

Posted by PicasaThere is this place in Idaho called the City of Rocks. We seriously thought we were driving to No-where-ville and finally found it. It was pretty cool!
We brought Cass along on this trip because someone needed to hold down camp while Indy and I did the Tri.

Spudman 2010

This is the Spudman Triathlon. Held in Burley, Idaho 1mile swim, 26 mile bike and 6.2 mile run.
When we signed up I knew I couldn't do the whole thing (being that I just had a baby 7 weeks ago) I found out you could do it as a relay team. I called Jill and asked her to do the bike and she grabbed her SIL Laurel to do the run.
EXCUSE my ugly T and bad non sporty hat and glasses combo. I completely forgot to pack anything to wear after the swim. Our team took 4th in our division.
SWEET!
Indy did awesome. He finished the WHOLE thing in 3hours
